The whole is more than the sum of its parts: when individuals form a well-functioning team, they are more valuable due to synergy within them

The combined effect of different elements can be more powerful or significant than the individual elements alone. For example, with unique skill contributions from everyone on the team it can achieve more than the sum of each member’s individual contributions. The question is how and why. It is a complicated and complex analysis paralyzed by the paucity of available principles to apply to explain in view of partially understood defining concepts behind the scenes. The only portion that is more clear is that this conjecture is true, as evidenced by plenty of examples. But why? The simplest explanation is it like how a soul holds a body functioning together, although we don’t understand completely how but it does. In a pure physical world, the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents produces a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. The one way it could be possible is because the interaction or cooperation between two entities builds on each other’s functionality, resulting in a useful outcome as the two entities work together to create a viable product. In math 2+2 =4, however, in the physical world, it is 2×2=4. This difference in summation and multiplication is the key difference in understanding this conjecture. Because when you add the net total stays the sum of two numbers but when you multiply it’s just not the sum of two numbers anymore but a joint effect of merging the two entities in a single new entity as they don’t stay separate anymore. In other words, we are not looking at a heap of two items. Rather, we have a joint product made by assembling the two items together, thus 2×2 giving us more than 2+2. Perhaps this distinction between the 2+2 and 2×2 is the easiest way to answer the why and how the above set forth conjecture works seamlessly and always without a miss.
